Founded in 1953 by a determined group of parents, the organization has dedicated itself to ensuring that individuals with epilepsy and other challenges lead productive and fulfilling lives.

Our inception was driven by the passion and dedication of parents who envisioned a world where their children with epilepsy could thrive. These founders worked tirelessly to create a supportive environment, laying the groundwork for an organization that would grow to serve a broader community.

Expanding Services and Impact

From its humble beginnings as a support group, we evolved into one of the region’s leading centers of excellence. We offer a wide array of services not only for individuals with epilepsy but also for those with developmental or intellectual disabilities. Our reach has also expanded to include behavioral health services for children and adults facing mental health challenges. Now known as the EPIC Family of Human Service Agencies, we proudly include EPIC Long Island, Epilepsy Foundation Long Island, and South Shore Guidance Center.
